Win a Vampire Vixen at Hi Ex
If you are going to the Hi Ex convention at the end of March there's an auction of original comic art for a very worthy cause. The Children 1st charity. I've just completed a pen and pantone original Vixen sketch along with a signed print of the comic cover for the event. So if you are at Hi Ex (and even if you are not), there will be opportunities to bid on this and a great many other unique pieces.

Going Underground
Another quick 3D set build for Vampire Vixens of the Wehrmacht. A subterranean briefing room deep below Whitehall.
In 2010 I visited Churchill's War Cabinet rooms in London with a mind to eventually doing these scenes.
It's a really wonderful freeze frame of history. The bunker has remained untouched since the cabinet rooms were closed at the end of the war in 1945. If it's the kind of thing that interests you, you should certainly take a trip to see it. 5 mins walk from Westminster. http://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/churchill-war-rooms

An RAF Lancaster set in 60 mins
In the new Vampire Vixens comic there's a few scenes that take place both outside and within an RAF Lancaster Bomber.
Having sourced a few reference pictures it was obvious the internal shots were going to be a rather complex perspective job to draw.
In 3D on the other hand, the fuselage is actually a rather simple repeat of certain objects and I knocked this one up in just over an hour.
I didn't bother to build the internal location into the full Lancaster model, that will be done seperately.
Very similar to the way shots are done in movies, the sides of the Lancaster can be pulled away to allow otherwise impossible camera angles over the shoulders of the characters.
Having built this set once, it can be re-used over and over for multiple shots and angles and it saves time compared to drawing or painting each shot from scratch.
In a few weeks time I'll post the final art and you can see how it all ties together with the characters and atmospheric lighting painted in.

King Evil and Lady Death
Here's a cover image I worked on over the Christmas holidays for Curt Sibling's King Evil.
Curt is a big fan of Lady Death so I took the opportunity to do an King Evil-esque adaption of the cover art from Lady Death issue one.
I only discovered the art of the late Steven Hughes very recently but he was a truly wonderful talent. His take on Lady Death is still the best although there have been many amazing artists that have illustrated the strip.
Curt Sibling has been an illustrator for more than 20 years producing his Total Fear strips. I met him at college in the early 90's and it was his enthusiasm and industrious work ethic that inspired me to pick up the pen and start the art game. So it's him you have to blame.
King Evil/Crusaders should be released in the next month or so.

Director's Cut
The Vampire Vixens of the Wehrmacht comic I'm doing later in the year is going to include the two short episodes that were published in Wasted magazine before it folded.
Since I'll be working to my own deadline i'm going to take a bit of time out to revisit theses episodes and expand them slightly.
In the original story the one panel that I was most unhappy with was the introduction shot of Chaplain Morris.
His look was a bit undeveloped in those early days and he looked slightly older than I had planned. By episode two I had him looking the way I wanted.
So in the tradition of the 'Director's Cut', Morris is getting a makeover to bring him inline with his second appearance.

Outpost prequel
I've spent much of the last year working on a fully painted comic book prequel to the movie Outpost. The art is now complete and the 32 page issue should be out in the very near future along with the release of the sequel, Outpost Black Sun.
Today it was announced by Black Camel Pictures that a third chapter will go into production in April this year. Outpost 3 will be a WW2 based origins story so you may see much of what transpires in the comic come to life on the big screen.
